[Abstract] 

Geroscience refers to the study of the relationship between aging and aging-related diseases, and the market related to the development of healthspan extension technology using gerorotector, an intervention that controls aging discovered based on gerosceince, is exploding. These geroprotectors show improved physical performances and enhanced a broad range of beneficial health effects. Thus, these findings are in agreement with current epidemiological data and raise the possibility of specific materials-based interventions to promote healthy aging. There are number of candidates for anti-aging drugs intended to slow the aging process currently being researched, such as calorie restriction (CR), rapamycin, metformin or pharmacological interventions. Many of these interventions can delay aging as well as the incidence of age-related diseases through similar CR effects.  Rapamycin, an inhibitor of Mechanistic target of rapamycin complex1 (mTORC1), and metformin (an activator of AMPK) leads to longevity through mimicking some of the beneficial effects of CR in yeast, nematodes, fruit flies and mice. The global market for drug development based on geroscience has expanded after demonstrating the effect of senolytics, which removes senescent cells. In this presentation, I would like to introduce a new concept of geroprotector that we are developing, as well as a description of geroscience that includes integrated research on aging and disease.
