[Abstract]
Protein therapeutics are a major class of biopharmaceuticals and antibody-based therapeutics are successful therapeutic modality for treating diseases such as cancers, autoimmune, infectious diseases.
The success of this class of drugs is originated in innovative technical advances in antibody engineering and development, including display screening technologies, bispecific antibodies, and antibody drug conjugates.
Desirable properties for therapeutic antibody products include high antigen-binding affinity, specificity, low immunogenicity, solubility, stability, manufacturability and adequate pharmacokinetics. The discovery process includes target identification & validation, antibody lead generation, antibody lead optimization, functionality analysis, antibody production and preclinical development and testing.
The continued advancement in this field is dependent on the successful discovery and development of novel therapeutic antibody candidates. In this presentation, various platforms for antibody discovery and example about antibody drug development will be presented.
