[Abstract] 

Therapeutic antibodies are a remarkable therapeutic class with complex pharmacology, toxicology, interdependent pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) properties. Because preclinical results provide critical information to clinical stage, the majority of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies focus on preclinical development of the antibodies. It is important to understand preclinical studies on the antibodies to enable their design and selection, design appropriate efficacy and toxicity studies, and optimize dose and regimen to maximize success in the clinic. Here, we discuss overall concept and recent trends on preclinical development for therapeutic antibodies.
